Щелепно-лицева хірургиня Христина Погранична (Христина Погранична) долучилась до команди лікарів з благодійної організації LEAP Global Missions зі США. У команді з нею працювала її донька, офтальмолог-інтерн Олександра Рибалкіна з Військово-медичного клінічного центру Західного регіону.
До складу місії входили фахівці різних спеціальностей – пластичні, реконструктивні та окулопластичні хірурги, офтальмологи, анестезіологи, ортодонт, стоматолог. Американські лікарі з радістю прийняли лікарів зі Львова у свою команду, яка допомагала пацієнтам у Белізі в лікарні Northern Regional Hospital у місті Орандж-Волк.
Місія була зосереджена на офтальмохірургії, діагностиці та лікуванні раку шкіри (Mohs surgery), а також надання стоматологічної допомоги. У період з 4 по 7 квітня лікарі надавали допомогу всім, хто її потребував. Усі операції для пацієнтів з Белізу – безкоштовні.
«У Белізі було багато пацієнтів, які потребували пластичних та реконструктивних операцій на обличчі. Я працювала разом із доктором Тріппом Паркером, спеціалістом з пластичної, косметичної та реконструктивної хірургії, а також з окулопластичними хірургами — доктором Іваном Врчеком та доктором Алден Грегстон. Разом ми відновлювали обличчя пацієнтів після видалення новоутворень, деформацій та раку шкіри — закривали дефекти, проводили пересадку шкіри на обличчі», – розповідає Христина Погранична.
Рак шкіри є дуже поширеним у регіоні Орандж-Волк, тому команда лікарів працювала з пацієнтами, яким була потрібна як діагностика, так і лікування.
«У цьому регіоні живуть європейці, меноніти, які переселилися сюди ще в XIX столітті. Світла шкіра, не пристосована до палючого сонця Центральної Америки, страждає від раку шкіри. Тут дуже багато місцевих мешканців із цим захворюванням. У Белізі ми видаляли пухлини, проводили пластичні операції на ділянках, уражених раком, і закривали їх шкірними трансплантатами»,- додає лікарка.
LEAP Global Missions вже понад 30 років організовує благодійні місії з реконструктивної хірургії в Белізі. Основний фокус – це лікування різних офтальмологічних патологій та дітей із вродженими розщелинами губи й піднебіння. З часом місія розширилася і включає також пластичних і реконструктивних хірургів, щоб краще відповідати на медичні потреби країни. Додатково надається стоматологічна та ортодонтична допомога, хірургія кисті, а також діагностика і лікування раку шкіри.
«З початком повномасштабної війни наші американські друзі допомагають нам у найважчих випадках, рятуючи маленьких українців, які постраждали від війни. Але й українські лікарі можуть допомагати тим, хто потребує спеціалізованої допомоги. Я з вдячністю прийняла запрошення американських колег – заради дітей України ми маємо розширювати коло добра серед професіоналів по всій планеті. Вони допомагають нам – ми теж допомагаємо. Ми вчимося, вдосконалюємо навички й можемо допомагати не лише нашим пацієнтам в Україні, а й дітям по всьому світу, бо як ніхто знаємо, що таке жити в складні часи», – пояснює хірургиня Христина Погранична.
Лікарям вдалося оглянути понад 100 пацієнтів, 40 із яких потребували хірургічного втручання, а ще понад 20 – невеликих оперативних процедур.
